The Rust Programming Language is the official book on Rust, an open-source, community-developed systems programming language that runs blazingly fast, prevents segfaults, and guarantees thread safety. This is the undisputed go-to guide to Rust, written by two members of the Rust core team, with feedback and contributions from 42 members of the community. The book assumes that you’ve written code in another programming language but makes no assumptions about which one, meaning the material is accessible and useful to developers from a wide variety of programming backgrounds. Known by the Rust community as “The Book,” The Rust Programming Language includes concept chapters, where you’ll learn about a particular aspect of Rust, and project chapters, where you’ll apply what you’ve learned so far to build small programs. The Book opens with a quick hands-on project to introduce the basics then explores key concepts in depth, such as ownership, the type system, error handling, and fearless concurrency. Next come detailed explanations of Rust-oriented perspectives on topics like pattern matching, iterators, and smart pointers, with concrete examples and exercises--taking you from theory to practice. The Rust Programming Language will also show you how to: - Grasp important concepts unique to Rust, like ownership, borrowing, and lifetimes - Use Cargo, Rust’s built-in package manager, to build and maintain your code, including downloading and building dependencies - Effectively use Rust’s zero-cost abstractions and employ your own You’ll learn to develop reliable code that’s speed and memory efficient, while avoiding the infamous and arcane programming pitfalls common at the systems level. When you need to dive down into lower-level control, this guide will show you how without taking on the customary risk of crashes or security holes and without requiring you to learn the fine points of a fickle toolchain. You’ll also learn how to create command line programs, build single- and multithreaded web servers, and much more. The Rust Programming Language fully embraces Rust’s potential to empower its users. This friendly and approachable guide will help you build not only your knowledge of Rust but also your ability to program with confidence in a wider variety of domains. Review: Its good and substantial from page one. - I've got the book. I have installed RUST, written the "Hello World.rs" and compiled and run it...it works. Now I have installed CARGO. It just keeps an working. The best part is, I am not out of chapter one and there are another 19 chapters. The book is SUBSTANTIAL. So far its easy reading, sample code on every page and no academic fluffiness to be seen. The online RUST documentation is great (very similar to book) but I can read the book in bed or out in sun and take a break from the screen. Review: Great resource for learning Rust. - I've only just begun the process of learning Rust but this book has been great. I've been programming computers for more than 30 years and while this book has all the basics it's not boring. It moves just fast enough to keep me interested and slow enough for me to make sure I understand the concepts. Awesome!

Great book
I'm very satisfied with the book. unfortunately after two weeks the cover fell off... so I had to take a star away for that; very odd first book I've ever had that did that... i think I'll avoid no starch press in the future

Must Read Guide to Rust
Anyone that aims to learn to code in Rust should read this book. It truly makes Rust approachable and significantly lowers the learning curve of Rust. Many people claim Rust is hard to learn, I would disagree. If you read this book, Rust will be easier to learn and master than C/C++. This book is also open source and you can find available for free online.

Great Book
This book is to Rust what K and R is to the C language. If you're only going to have one book on the Rust language, this is THE book to have.

Good
Its a good book to come back everytime I get stuck with the basics of ownership, borrowing, macros and many more. This is a must have for rust.

Written by those who actually helped build the Rust language.
Concise and plainly written, this book is a great resource to have while learning Rust. My only complaint is the book cover has separated from the spine but that's probably from rigorous wear and tear.

Great book, but...
Great book except the adhesive on the book isn't strong enough and gets undone from cover. Will probably try to super glue it in order to fix it up later.

One of the best technical books I've read
I already read much of this online through the official Rust website, but it was so good I had to get the real version. Looking forward to the second edition!

La référence.
