For thirty-five years Visual Thinking has been the gold standard for art educators, psychologists, and general readers alike. In this seminal work, Arnheim, author of The Dynamics of Architectural Form, Film as Art, Toward a Psychology of Art, and Art and Visual Perception, asserts that all thinking (not just thinking related to art) is basically perceptual in nature, and that the ancient dichotomy between seeing and thinking, between perceiving and reasoning, is false and misleading. An indispensable tool for students and for those interested in the arts. Review: Still ground-breaking thinking 50+ years later. - Rudolph Arnheim would be over 120 years old, so yes this is written from a voice in a prior error. So if one doesn't have the patience for classic writing, this may be a wee tedious. But so so worth it! Absolutely brilliant and shatters many widely held beliefs. Review: No words can tell how it's useful and important for artist. - This amazing book! No words can tell how it's useful and important for artist. Comprehend results of such hard labored research is the best pleasure that one may have from reading.

Should be in every Artist's or photographer's bookshelf.
The concepts in the book and by this author are amazing when translating art to photography and answers some questions of "Why?"

good read
The book was interesting and discussed a good deal about the self and how that comes out in artwork. Has colored photocopies of artwork created by individuals

It's a no.
Not exactly what I was looking for. I think it takes a while to digest. it's a slow read which doesn't make it fun and enjoyable for me

Overly verbose but insightful
Pretentiously overly verbosely written. However, if you can wade through the verbal diarrhea it can give you some deep insights as to how the brain, visual cortex, etc, manages to view and process the information we see based on past experiences, consciousness, etc. There are, however, certain findings within the book that you will already know about & realize instinctively anyway. It's just nice to know that these are scientifically & artistically confirmed. So I'm not mad after all....

Me encantó
Lo compré usado, y trae pequeños detalles, como la esquina doblada y alguien lo rayó antes de devolverlo, pero nada grave, lo importante es el contenido y está hermoso, sin duda no me arrepiento uwu
