It's not dry like most other books on the subject, but colourful and inspiring, and written in plain minimalist language. It also uses good looking websites that you can download, complete with .css. These files are clean and uncluttered, containing just enough information to make them look great and allow you to try out the examples.If you're learning JavaScript, this is definitely a book I would recommend you to have in your library, especially for the section on jQuery which just makes it fun to learn.The colour pages have a quality feel to them. The only issue I had with this book was the binding. If you bust the spine, the pages will come out so look after it.I hope the author does a new version in years to come. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I wish more programming books were laid out like this *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 12 October 2018* Learning new languages can be a tedious process which is not helped by plain black and white wash text books with no coloured syntax.But that is not the case here. This print is by far the best visual learning experience i have had so far in the many programming books i have read. I only wish more prints would take into account how important it is for the developer/reader to be comfortable with the reading material.Positive learning experience = happy developer = better code & job satisfaction.O'riely Books take a leaf out of this book, literally !Its such a breeze to learn from honestly. Absolutely brilliant book. There's so much out there on the internet these days that there's little room for books, especially with front-end development. You have udemy courses, youtube videos and interactive tutorials, why bother with a book? I was thinking the same thing. I read a few reviews on this book and thought I'd give it the benefit of doubt.The book is beautifully designed. The content design is just excellent, I haven't seen a book like it. Jon Duckett smashes it out of the park, from vanilla Javascript to jQuery (which is a little out of date now, but still very very good). The book provides high-quality examples of working scripts with stunning designs. I love this book so much I bought the HTML and CSS book too. Very much looking forward to more from Jon Duckett. The book is as good as any online/interactive tutorial you will find on the internet.
