This stamp issue celebrates the National Federation of Sub-Postmasters. The first president and founder of the Federation was Joseph Ranns. He found that allowances did not cover necessary expenses of running a sub-post office. These poor conditions led to the formation of the federation, and soon sub-postmasters were paid for their work on Sundays and public holidays. This issue marks the centenary of the federation.
